DIY Baby Stuff!
I am so excited to share these tutorials with you! Between moving, settling into a new life/routine, getting pregnant with baby #3 and being horribly sick for months, and the holiday season, I haven't shared anything with you for quite some time! I'm currently smack-dab in the middle of making a tiny human and I have got the worst case of nesting fever! After doing a lot of online shopping, looking around at stores, and comparing prices I finally gave up on a few things and turned to Pinterest for some DIY ideas and I was not disappointed at all! I bought all of my materials at either Walmart or JoAnn (on sale of course!) and I was able to make 1 nursing cover, 2 flannel blankets, 5 burp cloths, and 10 bibs for only about $40! You really cannot buy that combo any cheaper, in fact, you would easily spend 2-3 times the money. I hope you enjoy these as much as I did!

Here is my absolute favorite, tried-and-true, tutorial for making your very own nursing cover! I made a few of these years ago for friends and I loved how simple and easy it was to make, you can easily get this done in an hour or faster and it's so easy you might as well make a few! Seriously though, you can make a few of these for cheaper than buying one, even the offer you'll find for a "free" nursing cover still means you're paying at least $15 for shipping (UGH), and for that price you could easily make 2 of these.
I purchased my fabric at JoAnn and since I grabbed the last of that particular roll I got some additional fabric that I used to make a few bibs and burp cloths (see below) and I still have some left over...I think I may attempt making a crib quilt...I've got nesting fever soooo bad! I purchased the D-rings at WalMart for $0.88, they came in a set of 2 so it looks like I just might have to make another nursing cover in the near future.
Now, on to the easiest DIY baby project! Flannel receiving blankets are so simple to make and come together incredibly fast, here is my favorite tutorial on how to make your very own.
I've been searching all over the stores and internet for a set of bibs that I like and are reasonably priced...after a while I turned to my favorite place, Pinterest, and came across this tutorial (complete with printable pattern) for bibs and I couldn't believe how easy these were! It was a little tricky sewing around the curves but it was definitely doable. The only change I made here was that I used velcro instead of snaps, I purchased a couple boxes of fabric-adhering velcro dots from WalMart for just a couple bucks, I still may sew them in place later on but it was a lot easier for me to stick the velcro to the fabric that it is for me to deal with attaching the snaps.
These burp cloths are incredibly simple and come from the same site as the bib tutorial. The only change I made here was that I cut my rectangles to measure 10"x16" (instead of 18") and I think they turned out perfectly, the extra 2 inches just seemed too humongous to me - it has been 4 years since I've had a baby so my brain could be funky but I just don't remember having burp cloths that big - I think you could even go down to 10"x14" and be perfectly happy with your cloths.
I hope you enjoy these tutorials! I would love to see your results and to know if you found these to be as easy as I did, enjoy!
